I am also quite lucky to have a fantastic Father-in-Law. He has always taken care of me and made me feel welcome in my "new" family. He is quick with a smile and a laugh and is also an amazing Grandpa. He can walk laps with cranky babies/toddlers like no one else!
In addition to these great fathers, my boys are lucky to have a pretty great Daddy too. I had no doubts that Chad would be a good Daddy, he has always wanted kids and really enjoys his boys now that they are here. I have actually welled up with tears many times watching Chad interact with his babies. He is kind and gentle, while being rough and tumble all at the same time. There are just things that the boys prefer to do with Daddy, and I love watching them play. I also love to see Chad's face when he comes home from work and the boys go running/crawling to the door to greet him. He just lights up and smiles in only a way that his boys can make him do. I am fortunate to have a husband that not only takes good care of us, but also makes us all so happy.
For Father's Day we decided to create some artwork for Daddy to hang in his garage.
Wil getting into his masterpiece
(I want to note two things about this picture.... first, the best trick I ever learned for ANY kind of art project involving paper and kids is to tape the outside edges of the paper down so it won't move. I learned this during my grade 3 placement at Douglasdale School and have used it a million times in both teaching and home art projects. Thank you Mike and Donna!! Second, Wil finger painting is quite a big deal... he HATES mess and things on his hands so I was pretty excited that he got into this the way he did and got messy!)
Carson - not so afraid of mess
"After" painting
As I was cleaning paint off the floor, I looked up to find this... little monkey!!
Chad arrived home on Father's Day after a few days away in BC
Happy Father's Day Daddy!!
In addition to Father's Day fun, here are a few more fun adventures from the week!
Wil had his first official cleaning at the dentist, he did awesome and his teeth are all good!
(Carson also had his first check up at the dentist, but he was on my lap, so no photos.)
After the dentist, Wil wanted to go play at the "park by 18" (our old house)
Swinging is so fun!
Big Boy swing!
Carson is SO close to walking, and getting better at standing!
The new thing Wil likes to do is type words on the computer... he is obsessed with spelling things right now. He can spell a few words on his own (mom, dad, zoo, no, yes, William, Carson) and tries to sound out other ones. This is the screen from one of the times we have done this... he picks a word then we sound out the letters and he types! I only had to help him figure out the "ai" combo in paint. He is so ready for school!!
I really appreciate how you are willing to let your boys get messy! I think a lot of mom's (myself included) can balk at the idea because it would mean a lot of effort and work, esp in the clean up. BUT I also think those are the best and most special experiences and so important to let them happen! Thanks for inspiring me!!! (can we picture Simon with finger paint??? Probably best to do it when Scott isn't home!!!)

smart to use the computer! indy can "spell" by sounding out individual letters, but i wonder if seeing the letters would help him along? love that you let the boys paint IN YOUR HOUSE. i'm not there yet. either the area has to be fully newspapered or outside! ;)
