Milestones!

As a parent, you are very often focussed on "milestones", especially when you are around other parents.  I have learned, with difficulty sometimes, that EVERY baby is different and they all get where they need to be in their own time.  One of my favourite milestones is walking! I LOVE new walkers.  So wobbly, kind of like zombies, arms outstretched, grinning from ear to ear, beaming with pride and discovering this new form of freedom.  Both of my boys were late walkers.  It is torture waiting for them to walk, but I have learned that it is a milestone you just can't rush.  This weekend, Carson decided it was finally time, yay!!  He took his first steps last night and it wasn't just one or two, he took a whole bunch, a whole bunch of times!  He figured it out and decided it was fun, so walked back and forth between mommy and daddy about 10 or 15 times.  This game we played again today and a bunch more tonight.  He laughs the whole time and is so very proud of himself... makes me teary eyed as well.  Of course, as parents of the technology age, we got some video!

I decided to go back through old videos and find the ones of Wil's first steps.  He actually did his first big walk when I happened to be away in Toronto... the only weekend I left him in 14 months, he started to walk!!! I love this video too, but it makes me a bit sad to see how far my "baby" has come and how very quickly he has grown up!
