For everyone that read my last blog post, you know I get very excited about this time of year! Usually I wait until December 1st to start blasting my Christmas music and decorating the house... however, I have two little men at home that are embracing the excitement of the season as well, and luckily I am a sucker for them and we started just a wee bit early. This was a busy, but very fun week.
Carson and I still have our playtime while Wil is at school
(We went to Play a Latte and there was a really big bouncy slide. Carson and I played "chase" up and down this about 100 times in a row!)
We wrote our letters to Santa
(Wil is asking for a teddy bear, so as a result, Carson is also asking for a teddy bear)
Practicing our smiles for the "Big Guy"
Playing with some of the fun things in Santa's display
Chatting with Santa
(He was asking Carson his name, Wil was watching very carefully and was there to help Santa out with everything)
Picture time!
(Carson is still a bit unsure of what this "Santa" guy is all about, but he was pretty happy. Wil was really thrilled this year. It was very exciting to meet Santa and to get a picture. I love the smile on his face... so cute!)
After we got to decorate some cookies
That was a busy, stimulating day for a 2 year old, so Carson had some quiet time just snuggling with the snowman stuffy.
Baby Birds in their nests
(Carson actually came up with this game... he put the goalie pads on his arms and started to fly around like a bird. Then he needed a nest, and then Wil decided it was fun too. We have played "baby birds" a few times since... I don't get pads, but I have to have a nest and fly around too... collecting worms and bugs to feed them, because that is what mommy birds do! Their creativity and imagination always amazes me.)
This weekend we put up our tree
(Wil got to put the star on top)
Wil loved decorating and Carson liked emptying the ornaments out. The whole time Wil kept saying, while jumping all around, "This is looking really good", "we are doing a great job on this tree". He was having so much fun.
Ta Da!!
This morning, being December 1st, I decided to make gingerbread pancakes.
(I saw the idea to use the cookie cutters on Pinterest, however it didn't go that well. Not sure if it was because these pancakes got really fluffy and didn't cook quite right in the cutter, or that it was extremely difficult to get the cutter off (even being sprayed) and they lost some shape or what... but after making a large and small for each boy and nearly burning them all, I abandoned the shapes and just made circles. They tasted good though, nice and gingerbready. Next time a little powdered sugar on top would be a great addition)
The McKenzie Lake pleasure rink is open... Hooray! It was a beautiful morning for skating!
(Carson is doing awesome with his pusher now... he is really getting the hang of skating and will try to push the red thing ahead of him and then skate to it on his own! So cute!)
Wil practicing some gliding.
(Both boys really enjoyed the outdoor skating... Daddy too. I know this is stuff that Chad has looked forward to since before he even had children and he has a lot of fun skating around with his two boys.)
Yep, looks like you guys are right into the Christmas spirit! Love it!!! Love the pancake idea. I tried using cookie cutters too. Secretly glad it didn't work for you cause it sure didn't work for me either! LOL I can't believe you've already been to see Santa! Sooo fun!
