Warm weather fun!!

Up until Thursday last week it was -20 (not including windchill). Cold.  Very cold.  Friday we finally got a break, and the weekend was beautiful!  Up to double digit plus temperatures!  We took advantage of all the sunshine we could.  After hockey and skating classes we were outside.  We played in puddles, went for bike rides, I exercised outside instead of at the gym and we tried to clear a bit of our driveway lake away (we still have a long way to go, needing to wait until more snow melts). We also had lawn chairs on the driveway with "beers" (mommy and daddy had a beer and the boys had juice boxes), and loved seeing all the people out and about and chatting with neighbours outside.  It is Calgary, so I know we will get more snow... but hopefully the worst is behind us now!

Wil has been reading books on his own a lot lately and Carson will often walk over to him with a book and say, "Willya, wead me a book pwease".  It's really cute, and aside from the mom in me being super proud of Wil's blossoming reading skills, my inner teacher is too.

(Reading is a really interesting milestone.... amazing to see it happening, and to see how the world opens up for your child.)

We did hit plus temperatures finally.... the boys were so eager to get outside and play with their outside toys.... maybe a bit optimistic as there is A LOT of snow in our backyard!

(I'm really looking forward to this part of summer this year.  Carson is awesome at pedaling his trike on his own, and Wil has decided he is ready for his big boy bike with "4 wheels. two big, big wheels and two tiny ones at the back so I won't fall over".  I don't have to push or pull anyone this summer... maybe I can get a bike of my own!! {hint hint Chad})
