Good Old Hockey Game

Being surrounded by boys all the time, I have resigned myself to the fact that my life will likely contain a lot of trucks, dirt and sports. It is no secret that there are some hockey fans in this house (and outside the house in the family).  Wil got his first two hockey sticks when he was a day old in the hospital... a Calgary Flames mini stick from Grandpa R and a Toronto Maple Leafs mini stick from Grampa D.  He had his first set of hockey nets by the time he was 3 months old, and his first pair of skates (and backyard rink) as a two year old. (With many other sticks, pucks, balls and hockey outifts in between.)  He also discovered a love of the National Anthems and flags from watching hockey on TV, and at some point in every day we need to watch hockey highlights so he can name all the teams by their logo (which he can do with ease now).  Carson is also becoming quite the tiny, little hockey player.  He crawls all over with his stick and can hit the ball pretty well.  He knows exactly what to do with his stick and loves to chase Wil around while he is playing hockey, which has resulted in a few sticks in the face, but Carson is a little tough guy and handles it well.

Wil "needs" hockey gloves so he wears Daddy's

Daddy's gloves are REALLY stinky, so we got Wil his own little gloves!
(they are so tiny and cute and he is getting good at putting them on himself and holding his stick with them)
Working his magic with his little gloves and stick!

A boy and his stick

(I can't load the video for some reason.... probably too big a file.  Here is a link to it on youtube so you can see it!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62_kC6bv4jQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player)

In addition to National Anthems, Wil has discovered the Hockey Song by Stompin' Tom Connors.  Every night after supper we all go down to the basement, the jerseys go on, the sticks come out, and Wil sings the Hockey Song while practicing his slap shot (which is pretty mean for a 2 year old!).
The clip is a little long, but entertaining to watch.
(Auntie Baub this is for you!)

While there is a lot of hockey at our house, here are some non hockey related photos from our week!

Hurricane Carson strikes again!!

Carson is getting closer to walking, and now likes to push the kitchen chairs around the house... Wil, being the awesome big brother he his, helps drive the chair and makes sure it doesn't go too fast so "Carsie" won't fall.

"Pout pout" face

"Mmmmmm... pulled pork"
We have approached eating a bit differently this time around.  Carson generally just eats what we do now, as long as it is not a choking hazard... he is doing well so far (knock wood) and tonight he ate pulled pork for supper and didn't hesitate at all shoving it into his mouth! (Auntie Srimati would be proud!)

Bedtime fun with Daddy!
(excuse the quality of the photo, it was taken on Chad's phone and emailed to me.  I had to put it in, this is what I walked in to see after getting the boys rooms ready for bed, and it made me laugh)

  1. You really do live in a house of boys! Luckily you're a hockey girl yourself, right?!

Once again: WIL CRACKS ME UP. His muscle man pose with Chad's gloves. His anthem singing. His little gloves and wicked skills!

And the photo of Carson with his stick is VERY cute.

    Have a great week!!!
