Cottage!

So after Daddy left, we packed up and went on our cottage adventure.  I LOVE the cottage. Some of my best memories from my childhood/teenage and even adult years include times at the cottage.  I really hope that the kids can grow up loving it too.  Last year was tough.  Carson was a bit young, he was teething, he had a terrible fever the whole time, and he did not sleep.  At all.  Not the most fun... this year I was way more hopeful since the boys are a year older, and they both love being outside.

It was fabulous.  The boys did great.  They are awesome cottage kids.  The car ride (although long and had a few whiny moments) was good, the kids wore their life jackets without complaining, loved the exploring, the chipmunks, the boats, they ate and slept well and didn't want to leave when the time came.  Couldn't ask for much more.

We made it... checking out the boats on the dock

Ready to ride over to the cottage
(safety first for Wil, he is ready to blow the whistle if there is any danger!)

The boys had so much fun feeding the chipmunks... they did it several times a day.
(Carson would try to call them, "Here Chippie Pippie, come here chippie pippie" and even chase them around the yard with one sunflower seed yelling at them to come get it".  He also picked one up... no fear at all, just grabbed it an picked it up, he is actually lucky he didn't get bitten!)

Good sleep after all the fresh air!

Love cottage mornings... a little bit chilly, but just perfect

Waiting for Chippie Pippie and just being cute!

Off for a big boat ride!

Carson's turn to drive!

Wil's turn

Checking out the cool waves from the back of the boat

Feeling the wind in our hair!

Going for a float with Grampa at the little beach we drove to

Snuggled and tired

And done... sleeping on the boat

It was a bit warm in the afternoons, shirtless naps!

Cheese!!

Hanging out post nap in Uncle John's room!

Are you ready for some football??

Helping with the firepit

Keeping an eye on things to see if the fire is ready for roasting hot dogs

Hammock break

Time to roast some hot dogs!

Carson helped with the fire too!

Tasting the roasted hot dogs!

Tree shower on our last night!

Having a quiet moment before we head back to the city

Stopped at the Hungry Bear Restaurant and met the Bear and the Blueberry Hound and had a dance with them!  Very exciting!

Second (and last stop) before we made it home.... having some smoothies on the Muskoka chairs

I will be doing some more installments after the long weekend.... we need to catch up on the vacation adventures and then all the ones we have had since being home!!  This summer is keeping us busy!  Happy long weekend Everyone!

  1. I don't think I can express my envy at you're having a cottage to go to! That is such a SUMMER thing and I miss it! You guys look like you took full advantage of every aspect. Very fun.

Also - I wish I was sleeping on the boat! Looks lovely.
