Today is officially Carson's 8 monthiversary... yes that is right, I said 8 months! I can't believe it myself, it seems like only yesterday he was born and now he is only 4 months away from being a year old! It has been quite the 8 months getting to know this little person and helping him figure out his world. We have had lots of ups and downs, but I think we are have been figuring things out and doing okay most of the time! He has really come a long way in 8 short months.... from being a slightly "colicky", unhappy in the evenings wee man, to a constantly smiling and laughing bigger wee man! He was a tiny little 6lbs 9oz when he was born and today is a whopping 20lbs 7.5oz! He has also grown from 19 inches to 28.5 inches. While we still struggle with night time sleep, it has improved, most nights now he only wakes up once (which I can handle so far), although since teething and Christmas he has been up once in the night and once at around 6:30 or so. We will get there I am sure, he has had a few 12 hour nights, so I know he can do it!! He has also gone from being a teeny wee blob that couldn't do anything for himself to a strong, determined little fellow, rolling, sitting, crawling and pulling up to stand. Although I love everything that he has learned and I enjoy watching all the new developments each day... I have to say one of my favourite things is the eating of solid foods. It not only makes life easier down the road (and outings easier when you can keep crankiness away with cheerios and mum mums), it is sometimes so funny to see him "enjoying" new tastes and textures and learning to feed himself! There are lots of great photos I could put on here, but I decided that since I get such a great laugh out of it, I would share some of his adventures with solids!

Carson had his first taste of "solids" while we were in Toronto in October, at about 5.5 months old. He was showing many signs of being ready and when he got the chance he was pretty eager.
(rice cereal)
Peas
(They actually went over pretty well)
LOVES his sippy cup of water and can now actually get water out!
Prunes... apparently I can add them to anything and he will eat it!
Eating is fun!
(I have no idea how he gets it everywhere when I am the one who generally controls the spoon!)
Sometimes I let him try to do it himself...
"What??? Do I have something on my face?"
(Mum Mums end up sticking in the most random places!)
Egg yolk... did not go over so well.
Rice Krispies... so hard to get in the mouth when you have not perfected your pincer grasp!
Wil demonstrating that food is still funny even when you are two... enjoying some frozen blueberries tonight for supper!
Happy 8 months to our littlest man! You have completed our little family and we can't wait to see how you keep growing and changing!
The egg yolk photo is laugh out loud worthy!!! I'm glad peas were a better experience for Carson than for poor Simon! Solids are interesting...I'm finding them to be a bit more work but I can see how it will make things easier in the long run.
ReplyDeleteSleep. That's all I need to say. What an adventure!!!
See you soon.
